WHAT IS THE GROTTO?
Little Flower Catholic Parish Grotto of the Resurrection is nestled among 5 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds. As you cross over a bridge to enter the pathway of the Stations of the Cross you will notice six coins embedded in the concrete. Three of the coins signify the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Holy Communion. Two of the coins are Papal commemorative coins and the last coin is a U.S. silver dollar. You will wind down an 800 foot long lighted brick path stopping to pray and reflect at each skillfully crafted cast bronze station. Each station features a 14-foot high bell tower and prayer bench with a small assembly area.
At the end of the 14 stations you will enter a three thousand square foot brick plaza that is bordered by a hillside of heavy stone into which is set a stone cave representing the tomb of Christ. Within the tomb is a large granite stone upon which is etched the Shroud of Turin. An angel overlooks the etching of the shroud. Mary Magdalene kneels in the center of the plaza looking up to a statue of the risen Christ that overlooks the plaza.
The plaza is complete with an altar and pulpit to be used for Masses when weather permits.
The Grotto is open to all, is lit until 11:00 PM every evening and is wheelchair accessible. A pamphlet is available with reflections for each station. Candles are also available for lighting for special intentions.
